Ella's musings

Today I had a music competition. I play the flute and am about to take my grade 6 jazz exam. I played a piece called 'Bebop', by Andrew Wilson - a fun and entrancing piece. The winner was well deserved - a clarinettist in the year above. I believe  this played a key part in my learning - it showed that I need to practice more! The adjudicator was very nice - he told us what we needed to improve on and why.

As well as this, it also started snowing! Unfortunately the snow didn't settle so we couldn't  go sledging - it stopped after a while anyway. But at least its a start! I think it was a way of showing us that more snow will come, its just a matter of patience!

Kate thinks about the weather

Today it started to nearly snow, My friend got quite excited because she'd never seen snow before, in the end it didnt acctually snow , but it still reminded me off how lucky I was because I had seen snow before, and I have been in the sunshine with 40 degrees, I have felt gails and seen plenty of rain, all of Gods creations. And however much we complain about the weather I wouldnt have it any other way because I would hate to have the same boring weather each day, I love going to hot places on holidays, but I think the weather novelty would wear off.

Clare's thoughts

Earlier today I played the piano in a musical competition at school. I have been playing the piano scince I was aged seven and am now doing my grade two. The piece I played was called "Bah-Ba-Doo-Bah" by John Kenning. It is a jazzy piece and the adudicator really liked it and said it was fun and had a fantastic pulse, I came runner up. I love hearing comments like this not because it makes me feel good but because it proves that my playing the piano is making other people feel good and happy, my piano teacher was very pleased too. Its really nice to make people feel happy and pleased by in my case by hearing music. I think everyone in the world today likes music and so do I. We use music lots in the christian religeon when we sing hymns and anthems and we nearly always have choirs who sing for us as well. Choirs are a group of talented singers singing together in harmony for the benifit of others. Music is a very good thing that we have in this world and we should all appreciate it.
